Hood suspect

The government intercepted at least 18 e-mails between the alleged Fort Hood gunman and a radical Muslim cleric, and a key senator says there could be more communications that might have tipped off law enforcement or military officials.

Federal investigators say they intercepted the messages between the suspect, Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, and Anwar al-Awlaki, a radical American-born cleric.
They were passed along to two Joint Terrorism Task Force cells led by the FBI, but a senior defense official said no one at the Defense Department knew about the messages until after the shootings.

Fundraiser gets canceled amid criticism, questions

A weekend fundraiser was canceled amid criticism Friday after two of the four organizations advertised as participants distanced themselves, with one saying it was never involved in the event.

Questions of the event's legitimacy arose as the organizer, Cheryl Greene, said in an interview the money was to be split among the groups, while the other organizers say Greene told them all the money would go to her group, Hands of Hope.

At issue is an event dubbed Share the Harvest, which Greene planned ...

A place for teens

The space is set off from the rest of the second floor with a partial wall, the colors on the floor and walls don't match anything else in the library and it has a spiral staircase that goes, so far, nowhere.

Anyone visiting Envy Hair and Beauty in Fair Oak could be forgiven for thinking it had stepped back in time to the 1950s, with the gorgeous hairdressers kitted out in frocks cutting hair to the sound of an authentic rock and roll jukebox to raise £1,000.
